CS373 Fall 2022: Scott Lai — Week 4

What did you do this past week?

This past week I finished the Collatz project. I was able to pass all tests and got adjusted to the project workflow. I then filled out the CATME survey and annotated the paper about pair programming.

What’s in your way?

I have upcoming assignments from other classes, but, for this class, nothing is currently in my way.

What will you do next week?

Next week I hope to get assigned to a group and get started on the next project if it gets released.

What did you think of Paper #4: Pair Programming?

This week’s paper exposed me to the many advantages of pair programming. I initially thought it was just meant to promote collaboration, but now I know that it actually improves productivity. I definitely see pair programming in a different light now.

What was your experience of containers and iterators? (this question will vary, week to week)

Although I already knew how containers implemented iterators and the other ways they are related, I enjoyed seeing how Python deconstructs for loops on containers under the hood. I now appreciate the underlying architecture of Python slightly more than I did before.

What made you happy this week?

I was pleased to have finished the Collatz project and to have gotten used to some of the tools I will be using in the future. I am also glad that I got through the week in the first place. This one was tough, but there will be many more.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

Netcraft has a site report tool can show you the infrastructure and technologies used on any website.
